The skipper’s first rant of the year
Couldn’t resist reprinting my rant about field reservation on the site. So here it is…
Each week I send out a note about reserving a field. The times when I get a response are few and far between. Believe me, I understand. When BT was the manager I used to summarily delete any email with a subject line suggesting field reserving responsibilities, because reserving a field is a bitch–especially on Thursdays since that is the most popular night for softball and that other sport, which we won’t mention but that Kyle plays regularly.
In recent weeks, however, a number of you have indicated a strong desire to play all of our games on the Mall. I share this desire but, in fact, have no control over whether this happens or not. In order for us to play games on the Mall, either us or the other team has to send someone out there early and reserve a field. If we don’t get out there, then we’re forced to play wherever there is space, which generally means Anacostia.
The ball falls in our court this week as the other team doesn’t have any interns. So, is anyone available to head down to the Mall around 3:30 tomorrow and reserve a field? If not, gas up your cars and come to peace with the fact that we’re going across the river. Go Hitmen.
